Buying a home in Southwest Michigan can be easy.

A recent example of a young lady that contacted me through my website at: http://www.michaeldelaware.comwas of the same idea.

She filled out one of my information forms on the website, and forwarded it to me. I received it and called her within a half hour of her having sent it to me. After a short conversation with me, she soon began to believe that buying a home is easy in Southwest Michigan.

Here is the timeline on how I worked with her to make her see that buying a home is easy in Southwest, Michigan. She contacted me through the website on August 20th, I called her. I connected her up with a local lender, after assessing her needs. She was pre-approved for a loan by August 23rd, and we went looking for homes.

We wrote a total of three separate offers, and were not successful on the first two, but the third we were successful. We just got the home completed and under contract on September 5th, and she will likely close on the loan and be able to move in sometime between the end of September and mid October.

As a Realtor, I not only helped her see that buying a home is easy in Southwest Michigan, but she also is realizing that it does not have to take a long time to find the perfect house for her and her family!

If you set the goal to become a homeowner and stop renting, and you really decide to do it, nothing can stop you from getting there.

The most important thing to realize about renting is that although it offers flexibility in being able to move and relocated easier than when you own a home, it also offers no return on investment.  In other words, when you pay rent each month, you are not buying into an asset of your own, but more exactly you are buying “Time to Remain” in the location from your landlord.

Although most people start as a renter when they move out into the world, many remain renters for a long time.  Granted, in many areas of the country people cannot afford to buy a home, and renting may be less expensive.  However, realize that when you rent your dollars are going towards someone elses investment, and not your own.

The Debate of Buying Vs Renting

Of recent the blogosphere has been active with debates that are centered on the value of owning a home versus choosing to rent in the current economy.

Buying a home is a long term investment.

Regardless of which side the debaters take, the dialogue itself reveals how personal our ideas about homeownership can be and how significantly it factors in our lives.

As these online discussions reveal, life stages, financial situations, and lifestyle preferences are all factors that people consider when deciding to rather to rent or own.

People who may be moving within a few years may want to consider renting as an option, until they’re ready to settle down in a specific community. However, as individuals take steps toward raising families and growing a nest egg, homeownership tends to be the first rung on the ladder toward the goal of building long-term wealth.

No better time in history have we been at in Real Estate which is more perfect for those

Owning a home creates long term stability.

starting out as home owners.  There are loan programs that offer low interest rates, and home values are at their lowest in decades.  Yes, there are more challenges to getting qualified today than it was 5 years ago, but buyer prospects with good credit histories can benefit from these times.

Government loan programs such as VA, FHA and USDA Rural Development are designed around the first time home buyer.  Renters seeking to move out of paying for rent each month will often find it cheaper in many ways to own their own home.  In the Battle Creek area it is possible to get into a home in these conditions.
